Archers Enjoy The
Great North Run 2003

Tony Archer who is a
senior member of the club endured the Great North Run 2003 with his two
daughters, Amy and Nicky who keep Tony on his toes. All three of the
Archer family thoroughly enjoyed the race, even though they paid for it
afterwards with blisters and aching legs.
Tony is training very
hard at the moment as he is dreading the day that his girls beat him in a
race and perhaps even more worried about the banter he would get from the
lads if his girls did beat him in a race.
Nicky ran an excellent
time of 1hour 30 minutes and 49 seconds to smash her old personal best of
1.36 hours. The day before was her 18th Birthday and Nicky was
absolutely over the moon with her time. In the process of running the
miles, Nicky beat 6 of the elite women`s times who competed with Paula
Radcliffe. The elite race for the females started twenty minutes
earlier than all the main athletes.
Amy was delighted to
beat the two hour mark with a time of 1 hour, 48 minutes and 56 seconds in
her very first half marathon. Amy was running for charity namely 'Get
Kids Going', which is a charity that promotes sports for athletes with
disabilities. Amy has been in training for this event for many, many
months and is now having a well earned rest but attempting other half
marathons.
