Enjoy North of England Championships 2003

Athletes from Vale
Royal Athletic Club participated in the North of England Track and Field
Championships (U20) at Liverpool at the weekend.
Becky Ellis competed in
the 1500 metres for the under 17 ladies age group and won the gold medal
against some tough competition. Laura Lambert contested the under 15
girls 800m, again in a very tough competition to come away with a bronze
medal.
Beth Carter contested
the junior ladies 800 metres on the sunny Liverpool track, again in a sprint
to the line under pressure, where Beth came away with a silver medal and a
new personal best time.
The sprinters from Vale
Royal AC were also out in force with Ginny Moorhouse who contested the Under
17 ladies 80 metre hurdles final. Katie Balfour competed in the 100m
and long jump, where Steven Butterfield competed in the 100m and 200m for
the Junior men, where ran good times.
Robyn Wainwright,
Morgan Brown, Sarah Balfour all competed in the 100m and 200m for the first
time at the North of England Championships, and found the championships to
be a huge learning curve.
