Results from the NoE Road Relays
Vale Royal Athletic
Club took part in the North of England Junior Road Relays at Croxteth
park in Liverpool on Sunday.
The u13s and u15s each ran 3k, and the u17s ran 3.5k each leg. The Clubs u13 boys team of Josh Boyce, Lewis Healey and Mike Vennard finished in 8th place - just behind Wakefield and ahead of Derby and Bingley. The u15 girls of Hannah Paver, Claire Perry and Megan Huxley finished in a brilliant 4th place in a race won by Sale, but were ahead of clubs like Gateshead, Liverpool and Leeds city. The 2nd string team of Charlotte Mills, Robyn Ellis and Millie Ashworth finished in 26th place and were ahead of A teams likes of Rotherham, Blackpool, Hull and Halifax.
The u17 boys of
Andy Perry, Ed Crowther and Andy Clews finished in 17th place and were
just behind Liverpool and ahead of St Helens.
The u17 girls team of Kathy Stringer, Kate Howard and Rebecca Craigie took Bronze Medal in a race won by Lincoln with Hull second. The 2nd string team of Sophie Axford, Emily Furber and Nikki Meadows finished in 17th place and were ahead of A teams from East Cheshire and Leigh. The next big events for the Club are the National Road Relays at Birmingham on the 20th and 21st of October followed by the spectacular AAAs Cross Country Relays at Mansfield on the 3rd of November in which an amazing number of around 700 teams take part.
