Superb Performances At The North Of England Cross Country Championships 2004

There some very good performances by Vale Royal AC youngsters who contested the North of England cross country championship course at St Helens.

The Under 20 ladies team of Fiona Rudkin, Beth Carter, Caroline Winder and Nicky Archer gained a superb silver team medal, coming behind first place Morpeth and in the process beat Nestle into bronze medal position.

The  Under 17 ladies team also gained a medal, that of a bronze medal with the team of Becky Ellis, Emma Coxon, Lucy knight, Vicky Walls, Gemma Lievesley and Katie Spilsbury.  The winners of the competition were Hull and in second place were Leeds City Athletic Club.

The Under 15 girls team of Stevie Stockton, Laura Lambert, Corrine Kinving, Vicky Jones, Leanne Jones, Louise Bosson and Emily Deaman finished in fourth place, just missing out on the bronze medal position by one place in the race.  The girls beat strong teams such as Sale and Liverpool Harriers to gain fourth position.

The Under 15 boys team of James Griffiths, Tom Heaward, Lee Davenport and Ryan Smith managed 8th place in a strong field and this was a pleasing achievement.  The boys have worked very hard in training and this time last year there were no boys in this age group, so the future is looking good.
