Louise Works As a Volunteer At the Commonwealth Games 2002

Louise McGrath who is the Treasurer as well as a coach with the under 11`s at Vale Royal AC spent two weeks working at the Commonwealth Games as a distribution runner.

This involved Louise running up and down many, many steps in the athletics stadium to give results to commentators, the media and also the VIP`s in the stadium.  Louise had exclusive access to the stars area and warm up areas during the games.

Louise really enjoyed the atmosphere at the stadium, particularly the Opening Ceremony where the fire work display proved to be a huge hit.  The best part of the games was making new friends even though it was extremely hard work.

Tom Carter and Lisa Hitchen who are also members of Vale Royal were in action at the games as volunteers, where Tom worked as a technical aide escorting the athletes onto the track.  Lisa worked with the Barbados team for the whole two weeks looking after the athletes in the village and track areas.
