Club Wins Off Track
Club Award Of North West 2005

Shaun McGrath and Neil Templeman were
invited to the UKA Indoor Cup Meeting at the Manchester Arena to be
presented with a Club Futures award from UK Athletics. Vale Royal AC
have won the 'North West 2005 Off Track Club Of The Year', for all the
efforts in fell races, cross country races and road running races.
The award was jointly presented by Jared
Deacon, a 400 metre British International at World Championships and
Olympics games and Alison Wyeth. Alison is now an athletics
development officer for the governing body (AAA), where Alison was another
British International athlete at 3,000 and 5,000 metres at World
championship and Olympic level.
Neil attended the presentation in the
absence of Andy Carter, who could not make the presentation of awards.
Both Shaun and Neil were guests of honour at the UKA Indoor cup which saw
athletes from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Birmingham and Manchester
compete against each other indoors, to gain experience of indoor meetings during the
winter.
Club President Harry Evans was delighted
with the award and thanked all the athletes and coaches who have worked very
hard in the winter months to represent the club at major competitions up and
down the country.
