Vale
Royal Athletic Club came back from the 2005 Cheshire Track and Field County
Championships with a stunning number of 22 Gold medals which left the club
delighted with the success. Club President who spent most of the
weekend at the Championships was pleased with the medals and individuals
successes with many new personal bests for lots of athletes who competed.
Laura
Lambert was voted best female track athlete of the championships with a
stunning UKA grade one time, followed by Hanna Hewitson who was voted best
female field athlete of the championships with a UKA grade one distance
award. Club President Harry Evans was absolutely delighted with the
awards provided to the athletes of Vale Royal AC.
There
are lots of athletes who turned in very memorable performances over the
weekend, especially the three athletes who broke Championship records.
Hanna Hewitson contested four events and won 3 Gold medals in the event of
Long Jump, High Jump and Triple Jump in the under 17 ladies age group and
came fourth in the 100 metres final.
Hanna
broke the under 17 ladies triple jump championship record with a new mark of
11.09 metres, which had previously been held for six years by another Vale
Royal Athlete Helen Williams. Jumps Coach Neil Templeman was delighted
that Helens old record (11.03m) had been broken by another athlete from Vale
Royal AC, as this was a tough record to beat, yet he is excited because
Hanna has another year in this age group next year!!!!

Hayley
Jones won two gold medals in the Under 17 ladies age group and broke the 300
metre sprint championship record 41.48 seconds to win the gold medal.
Hayley also won the Under 17 ladies 100 metres to secure her second gold
medal of the championships to start the summer off in fine fettle.
Stevie
Stockton was also in action in the under 17 ladies 3000 metres where Stevie
battered the old championship best with a brand new time of 10.22.79 minutes
to take off an astonishing 43 seconds off the old championship record in hot
and humid conditions. Stevie was so pleased with her medal and new
championship record that she celebrated with an ice cream!!!
Club
President Harry Evans would like to thank all the Coaches and Parents who
supported athletes during the weekend and most importantly thank all the
athletes who participated in the Championships on behalf of the club.
