Ireland At
International Schools

Vale
Royal AC girls Hayley Jones and Stevie Stockton have returned from Ireland
where they both competed for England Schools and won Gold Medals to the
delight of England Team Members.
The
girls were part of the England Schools Team which competed against Wales,
Ireland and Scotland at the glorious Taullamore Track in Ireland with some
stunning weather to match the gold medals.
Hayley
won the gold medal in the 300 metres with a time of 39.38 leading from the
gun to the finish line to win comfortably to the delight of the England
Team. Hayley also claimed a second gold medal at the schools
international in the 4 x 300 metres where she ran the last leg to bring the
baton home for the England Team.
Stevie
Stockton competed in the 1500 metres where she ran a superb tactical race
sitting just off the pace to turn on the speed in the last 250 metres to out
sprint the other athletes to win her very first major international honour.
Club
President Harry Evans was absolutely delighted with the results of both the
girls who have trained diligently over the winter months and stayed focused
on both academic and athletics with it being GCSE year for both athletes.
Harry Evans commented that this was a stunning achievement for both athletes
and is a tribute to both athletes for all the hard work completed who have
now reaped the rewards, and long may it continue.
