Golden Girls In Ireland At

International Schools

Vale Royal AC girls Hayley Jones and Stevie Stockton have returned from Ireland where they both competed for England Schools and won Gold Medals to the delight of England Team Members.

The girls were part of the England Schools Team which competed against Wales, Ireland and Scotland at the glorious Taullamore Track in Ireland with some stunning weather to match the gold medals.

Hayley won the gold medal in the 300 metres with a time of 39.38 leading from the gun to the finish line to win comfortably to the delight of the England Team.  Hayley also claimed a second gold medal at the schools international in the 4 x 300 metres where she ran the last leg to bring the baton home for the England Team.

Stevie Stockton competed in the 1500 metres where she ran a superb tactical race sitting just off the pace to turn on the speed in the last 250 metres to out sprint the other athletes to win her very first major international honour.

Club President Harry Evans was absolutely delighted with the results of both the girls who have trained diligently over the winter months and stayed focused on both academic and athletics with it being GCSE year for both athletes.  Harry Evans commented that this was a stunning achievement for both athletes and is a tribute to both athletes for all the hard work completed who have now reaped the rewards, and long may it continue.
