Coaches Undergo Police
Checks
As
Part Of UK Athletics Drive
All Coaches at Vale Royal
Athletic Club are at this moment in time in the process of completing police
checks (CRB) as part of a national drive by UK Athletics, the governing body
of athletics.
Each area in the UK has
been given a specific time of the year to apply for police checks and now is
the time for North West Coaches to do so. Otherwise, if every
athletics coach in the UK applied at the same time, the CRB would be overrun
with enquiries.
In the past it cost £22
per person and could be completed on a voluntary basis and coaches randomly
did, as they felt that they spent enough voluntary time and money travelling
to competitions to watch athletes they coached.
Now UK Athletics have
decided to pay for all coaches to be police checked as part of best practice
along with the creation of a athlete friendly environment for those under
the age of eighteen in conjunction with Club Mark, which many clubs are
aiming for at the moment.
The club is now pleased
that all the coaches who donate their time voluntary many hours per week are
being police checked without charge by UK Athletics which also illustrates
the club is a provider in a safe learning environment for athletes to train
to their full potential.
