
Girls Lead The Way

Royal Athletes were in action during the weekend of 22nd/23rd January at the
North Of England U20/U17 Championships in Sheffield.
The
superb facilities at the English Institute of Sport was packed with
athletes, coaches and parents who all enjoyed the great atmosphere during a
quality meeting.
Hayley
Jones was in action in the 60 metres sprint where she defended her title
with a time of 7.87 seconds in a dead heat with another athlete, yet was
awarded the gold medal by the width of her vest. Hayley also collected
a silver medal in the 200 metres for the under 17 ladies event with some
very good running indeed against quality athletes.
Hanna
Hewiston was also in action at the superb facilities for the very time and
gained a gold medal for her effort with a new personal best of 10.93 metres
in the under 17 ladies triple, 3 cms short of the course record for this
event. Hanna was delighted with her medal and is now looking forward
to further winter training in preparation for the summer months.
James
Griffiths was also in action in the Under 17 men 800 metres where he gained
a bronze medal for his effort and was once again new to the four laps of the
200 metre indoor track.
Club
President Harry Evans was delighted with the results of the girls and James who
represented the club at the weekend and wishes them well in the preparation
for future competitions.
