Athletes Return From World Cross Country Championships In Italy

Hannah Weedall and Stevie Stockton returned from the World Cross Country Championships in Italy after a fantastic experience at the opening ceremony, competition and closing ceremony.  The athletes were part of a six member team for the England Squad.

Hannah and Stevie were selected after excellent performances over the cross country season at County, Regional and National championships where both athletes have worked hard through the winter, with a just reward at the end of the cross country season.

Shaun McGrath who coaches the athletes along with Andy Carter at Vale Royal AC jetted over to watch them compete and thoroughly enjoyed the competition which finished on the beach by the Mediterranean sea, on a warm and windy day.

Stevie Stockton finished 24th and Hannah Weedall finished 29th, in a race dominated by the Chinese team both in the ladies race as well as the mens race.

The club would like to congratulate the athletes on a fantastic achievement and hope they have fond memories of the event throughout their athletics careers.
