Stevie
Wins Title and Zola Budd Comes Third!!!!
Rebecca
Grabs A Silver!!!!

Stevie Stockton won the
Under 17 Ladies North of England Cross Country Championships title at
Blackburn at the weekend with Vale Royal`s very own Zola Budd (Hannah
Weedall) coming in third position with no shoes or socks on.
Stevie was delighted with
the win and had a huge smile on her face when she crossed the line, however,
Stevie was upstaged by Hannah Weedall who crossed the line without shoe or
socks on!!! Hannah decided that the shoes and socks were annoying her,
so she took them off during the race and amused lots of people at the finish
line, hence the new nick name Zola Budd!!!
Coaches and athletes at
the club were delighted for Stevie as it was a tough race where the girls
under 17 team of Stevie, Hannah, Laura Lambert and Lorna Timms won 2nd team
prize in the age group.
Rebecca Cragie ran a
superb race in the under 15 girls race to win a silver medal seconds behind
the winner who is a national cross country champion. Rebecca fought
all the way to the line in a very good run indeed to win her second North of
England medal, as she won a bronze medal last year, where coaches at the club were delighted with the run.
This is a just reward for the youngster who has trained diligently over the
last few months with the group at Vale Royal AC.
More results will be
available as they come, yet it was a great day for the club who took 40
youngsters and the vale royal ac tent, which had admiring glances from other
clubs.
