Hanna Becomes Young Ambassador

Hanna Hewitson of Vale Royal AC has become a Young Ambassador For Sport, after being chosen by Kelly Holmes to promote sport and physical activity for young children in the Vale Royal area.

Hanna was nominated by her school, Verdin High for the Young Ambassadors Programme headed by Kelly Holmes along with Youth Sport Trust.  Athletes of outstanding talent over the last twelve months were asked to be nominated for the programme, where Hanna will go into schools and talk about how important it is to keep physically active as well as promoting sports.

Hanna was at Lancashire Cricket Club this past Thursday where she met Kelly Holmes along with a whole of host of other young ambassadors selected throughout the north of England.  Hanna had to introduce herself in front of the group and answer questions from Kelly Holmes, which Hanna described as nerve wrecking but a great experience, speaking to an Olympic Champion.

Hanna will now shortly be going into schools with her PE teacher to promote the sport and get young primary school pupils thinking about sports and physical activity, in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games.

The ultimate aim is to use young athletes as role models for young children in primary schools and to get them to promote sports via demonstrations and other activities.
