Vale Royal Athletic Club took part in the National cross country relays in Berry Hill Park, Mansfield on Saturday. The huge event had its biggest ever entry of about one Thousand teams over the ten races on the beautifully sunny day.

The clubs u13 girls of Robyn Ellis ,Claire Perry and Megan Huxley finished in 10th a best ever position for that age group at the club and were ahead of clubs like Birchfield, Liverpool ,Leeds and Sale.

The B team of Victoria Anderson, Yazmin Rowlands and Jade Evans finished in 38th place and were ahead of Gateshead's A team. The C team of Cerys Heaher, Kate Moulds and Hannah Bishop finished in 68th.

The u13 boys A team of Tom Marsden, Mick Vennard and Andrew Miles finished in 26th which was also a best ever placing for the clubs boys. The B team of Lewis Healey, Josh Boyce and Andrew Zimmer finished in 49th.

The u15 Boys of Andrew Clews, Andrew Perry and Alex Bailey finished in 48th. The u17 Boys of Zach Cross, Chris Perry and Tom Heaward in 26th place In a race won by Gateshead and were just ahead of Liverpool's A TEAM.

 Vale royals senior women were the only Cheshire team in the Championships and with Nikki Archer, Karen Ellison and Kate Spilsbury finished in a top class 30th place and were ahead of top clubs like Tipton and Coventry Godiva.

The senior men of George Thompson ,Tom Carter, Gareth Williams and Gary Weedall finished in a top class 61st place with nearly seventy teams behind them.

The Clubs u20 Girls team were in 4th place with Becky Ellis, Charlotte Roach and Stevie Stockton and were the first team by far from the North Of England to finish. The race was won by Aldershot

Vale Royals u15 Girls took the bronze, the first set of medals ever for the club in this team event . Cathy Stringer from Northwich and Hartford High ran the first leg, Hannah Paver from Knutsford and St Nicks,High ran second and Rebecca Craigie from Alderey Edge and Alderley Edge Girls school ran for Vale Royal in the last leg. The Clubs B team of Nicky Meadows, Emily Furber and Sophie Axford finished in 34th ahead of Nottingham, Bristol and Leeds. Also running were Becky Ollier and Milly Ashworth

Also Running for the club- were James Griffiths, Peter Cox, Hannah Weedall and Kate Howard.
