Vale Royal Athletic Club

Hayley Wins National Title at 300 Metres

Vale Royal AC athletes were in action at the weekend with three athletes gaining top five places, with one of the three athletes winning a national title at the British Championships (AAA).

Hayley Jones won the Under 17 ladies 300 metres title with some superb running to dominate the race from start to finish with a time of 39.30 seconds to win her very first outdoor title, having won the national indoor title for 200 metres earlier in the year.

Club President Harry Evans, commented this was a very pleasing year for Hayley who has worked very hard over the winter months and focused rigorously in training, hence the superb results throughout the indoor and outdoor season.  Harry was also pleased with the results of fellow athletes that participated at the weekend for the club in those bright colours of blue and yellow.

This is the fourth national title Hayley has won this year, with a win at the English Schools (300 metres) and a member of the 4 x 100 metre relay team at English Schools who won Gold.

Hanna Hewitson was in action in the under 17 ladies triple jump where she missed out on a bronze medal by an agonising 5 cms with a jump of 11.35 metres.  Hanna, a year young in this age group  will be back next year gunning for a medal, with valuable experience gained this year.   Hanna is the North of England Champion record holder, as well as the outdoor and indoor chamion 2005 for the North Of England area in her very first competitive season.

Stevie Stockton had a tough race in the Under 17 ladies 3000 metres where she came 5th with some very hard running indeed.  Stevie, the North Of England 2005 for 3000 metres was pleased with her placing, as this was a top quality field in action.

Other athletes from Vale Royal AC at the weekend were Laura Lambert (800m), Glen George (3000m) and Lee Davenport (400m) who all enjoyed the championships and will be back next year for some more top quality competition.
