What a Day (at the Northern Road Relays)!!

Eye witness report from John Moulds..............

Some photo’s of our brill medal winning senior ladies relay team.
Very high class field with some elite runners taking part.
The winning Leeds team had Susan Partridge on the anchor leg, who is currently number 1 in the country at both half and full marathon distance.
Olympian Jenny Meadows ran the first leg for Wigan, and came in second, Kate was 8th.
Jodie brought us up to 5th, Amelia took us into a medal position.
Tess kept her head after Susan Partridge shot past her and took 3rd place back in the last mile.

Another good weeks training and it certainly paid off yesterday at the Northern Road Relays, across the board the club produced some outstanding results against some very tough opposition from the region.
A big well done to everyone who ran and made it such an exciting day for the club.
In the Junior section of the club the highlights were the gold and silver medals won by the Under 17 Men and U17 Women teams, all of our runners were in the top 14 fastest on the day, a really excellent performance.
Our Under 13 and under 15 teams acquitted themselves really well and there are excellent prospects for the rest of the relay season!

Although these were fantastic performances for the club perhaps the performance of the day was our Senior Ladies team who took 3rd place, this is the first time a Cheshire team has medalled in the Northern Road Relays (at least in the last 25 years - our records do not go further back than that).
Everyone had great runs but we must mention Tessa, who ran a brilliant last leg, she was overtaken early on by Susan Partridge but did not panic and gradually caught the Liverpool girl to secure 3rd place.
The Senior men comfortably made the top 25 to earn a place at the National Road relays on 12th October - again excellent performances across the whole team but we must mention Mike and Chris who both clocked sub 21 minutes.
Overall we had a number of top 10 fastest times, Elliot was fastest in the U17 Men, with Sam 3rd, Ben 2nd fastest U13 Boy, Amy 2nd fastest U17 Women with Jess 9th, Caitlin was 9th fastest U13 Girl and Tessa 5th fastest Senior Women.
