Endurance Group Update from Andy Carter
25 Nov 13
First I must mention the British Cross Challenge at Liverpool on
Saturday, Vale Royal had their biggest ever entry and achieved some excellent
results starting with the U11's and going all the way through to the Seniors.
Everyone who ran performed really well and most will have learned something from
their run!
This is a very prestigious event with all of the races being high quality with
athletes from England, Wales and Scotland.
We had 8 athletes finishing in the top 20 - Edward Pettitt 5th in the U11 Boys,
Ben Lee 11th in the U13 Boys, Caitlin Dimmick 16th in the U13 Girls, Amy Hinchly
17th in the U17 Women, Tessa McCormick 12th in the Junior Women and Stevie
Stockton 13th in the Senior Ladies.
The two performances of the day however were from Elliot Bowker who ran a
tactically brilliant race pulling ahead of a very strong field on the 2nd lap to
win his second race of the 2013/2014 series!
And the other was from Katie Brough who came 6th in a very strong Senior/U23
Women's field and 4th place in the Seniors which should secure her selection for
the European championships in Belgrade on 8th December

Well done to everyone who raced on Saturday at Leek in the North Staffs
League, and especially to Edward Pettitt who won the final race in the U11's and
therefore won all 4 races and, of course, took the overall winners trophy.
This Sunday sees the European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade and we
wish Katie Brough lots of luck for a successful race for Great Britain,
I am sure she will continue to do the club proud - the races will be shown on
BBC2 at 12 noon for a couple of hours - hence we need to be ready for our Sunday
run at 10.30 am !!
There is also the next Manchester League race on Saturday in Sherdley Park, St
Helens.
I know that a number of you will be running so good luck to you too.
Finally remember, if you have not already done so, to let Shaun or me know
whether you want to be entered for the Cheshire Club Championships on 4th
January and the Northern CC Championships on 25th January.
