Outward Bound Trips for Athletes
Over the last five years the club has enjoyed a trip each year to a different outward bound centre in the UK to celebrate the end of the winter training, which is a heavy block of training.
The club has been to Southern Ireland, the Isle of Wight and Sedbergh in Cumbria to allow the athletes to relax and bond as a team for the summer months of competitions.
At the registered outward bound centres with registered instructors the athletes have attempted different activities, namely rock climbing, abseiling, zip wire, the leap of faith.
Other activities that athletes have attempted were laser quest, quad biking, go-karting, jacobs ladder, orienteering, cave climbing, canoeing, swimming, fell walking and the night line.
Each year the athletes enjoy the activities thanks to the diligent planning by Shaun McGrath who spends nine months of the year planning the activities.
